Gourmet Gorilla provides early childhood, K-12 schools and institutions with breakfasts, snacks, lunches and suppers.
Since our inception in 2008, we have provided millions of meals to early childhood and K-12 schools throughout Northern Illinois and Wisconsin.
We have been at the forefront of new and innovative ways to provide children with healthier, more nutritious meals that they LOVE to eat every day !
Gourmet Gorilla strives to obtain 70% of its ingredients from local, sustainable, and organic purveyors. Our meats are free range, grass fed and all natural, and have not been subjected to artificial growth hormones and antibiotics, or artificial preservatives; Gourmet Gorillaavoids GMO where possible and is a peanut and tree nut free facility.
Gourmet Gorilla provides healthy, cooked from scratch, local and sustainable food for kids, with an emphasis on foods that are familiar to children, while occasionally pushing the envelope of taste and food experience. Our menus are as much a learning and educational experience as they are a healthy eating option. Our recipes are designed to meet and exceed the USDA Final Rules of the Healthy & Hunger-Free Kids Act, and local city and state meal requirements. All our meals are kid tested!
Our kitchen is constantly working towards becoming a zero waste kitchen, with a composting program, recycling program, and delivery via environmentally responsible vehicles. Schools that switch to us not only obtain better nutrition and safer food, but also help the local economy, promote food security, and encourage environmental responsibility.
We start early in the morning, preparing all our meals from scratch using the freshest ingredients. Working with local farmers and distributors, we select the best ingredients for our seasonal menus. Our goal is to help expand young palates by introducing them to healthy, kid friendly, and great tasting meals.
All our meals are developed by chefs and nutritionists with input from kids, parents and educators.
