Windy City Harvest

Supporting and contracting with Gourmet Gorilla for local and organic school lunches directly impacts the local community through our procurement methods. The decisions a school can make on the food service provider it uses can help strengthen community, develop educational opportunities, and promote food security.  We promote the activities of urban farming organizations like Windy City Harvest through our purchasing decisions. Even though these are often not the cheapest sources there is more to a price than meets the eye. For our preschools and elementary schools we use urban farming as an education tool to broaden the knowledge that children have about their food and how it is produced.
